Thanks for your feedback. I hope you read all of my posts about Batteries Plus. The negativity of your comment flies in the face of your complaint about my post being negative. In fact, I was a huge fan of batteries plus, that's why we bought our car battery there. We have yet to hear back from the franchise owner. Like you, the management there blamed us for our old battery dying while still under warranty and didn't want to give us good service. If you think that blaming the customer is the right policy, then that's your right. I believe businesses should treat their loyal customers well. My wife and I were polite and asking for help. The people at this branch of batteries plus were rude and not helpful. That's the story.

Complain, complain, complain. It's amazing to read these blogs people write now that we have the capability. You have one bad experience and you are going to stop going to Batteries Plus all together? That is truly amazing. Have you ever thought that you are just adding to the negativity that you are complaining about? I doubt the salesperson made it your problem from the start. You probably came in to the store blaming him for your battery going bad and acting just the way you are accusing them of acting. People can feed off of your energy and they tend to respond to you how you approach them. Sorry for your experience, but have you ever thought that it had anything to do with the way you were behaving? He did offer to charge your battery for you and seemed to be trying to help out.

As a long time customer of Batteries Plus in Austin, TX I can assure you this is not the service the rest of the stores provide. The employees at the locations in Austin are very nice and courteous. I had an automotive battery that was 8 days out of the warranty period and they honored the warranty for me for free replacement. This is only one example of the generous things they have done for me. I am sorry you had a bad experience at that one location, but please don't be so quick to judge. I can't understand the blanket of dissatisfaction you put over an entire company with hundreds of stores over one experience.

I am concerned about Starbuck’s strong-arm tactics and the scripted “conversations” used on customers to sell the new product. They show a rather sad view of the customer (as well as other people). I strongly recommend the following blog's post: http://deligentia.wordpress.com/2009/11/13/starbucks/

I'd have to agree with the list. Social media agencies should help clients / corporates to understand the levels of control they can have over their brand.

Yes, they will lose control, but there are ways to control the conversation as long as they understand the need for transparency and rationalism.

What amazed me was that Batteries Plus corporate could not even get the franchise owner to respond to me. The way they've structured their franchise agreements, the owners do not appear to be accountable for quality customer service. There was no recourse. I wrote a follow up post about the attempts Batteries Plus Corporate made to try to rectify the situation and gave them due credit. I'm sorry: When they sell you a product they need to stand behind it, particularly if that product is under warranty. If not, then deal with the consequences of your actions. It may seem harsh, but their behavior to my wife was harsh. And we were established customers. People who spent money with them. People who would have returned over and over again.

Thanks for your comment!

Don't judge an entire franchise based on one bad experience with a few uncaring employees, asserting something like "And, as I told the CEO in my email, we are adversaries with a voice. How many people will hear this story and wonder if Batteries Plus stands behind its products? And I’m left to wonder if this is indicative of the service given at all of their locations.".

Come on. Now you're the one being ridiculous. Just because I couldn't return something to a wal-mart once does not cause me to call the entire national brand into question. Use your "voice" for something more productive.
